Application and intake

You do not need a referral from your family doctor or another care provider to register for music therapy. You can easily register by contacting me!

Treatment goals and evaluation

At the beginning of the treatment, your treatment goals are chosen and priorities are set in consultation. From time to time we shall evaluate the therapy process together.

Individual or group

Usually music therapy is offered individually. With the offers 'Drumming Against Ruminating' and 'Self-help with your music' there is the possibility for group therapy if there are enough registrations. The course 'Full Life' is preferably offered in a group context. The group size varies between 4 and 6 participants.

Problems I cannot treat

It is possible that there is a problem that requires expertise that I do not have in-house or that belongs in a different treatment setting, such as

  • Psychotic complaints

  • Severe Depression

  • Addiction problems

  • Serious personality disorder problems

  • Serious aggression or criminal behaviour

Collaboration with other disciplines

I have a good working relationship with a group of self-employed psychologists, psychotherapists and psychiatrists. They ask me to join them as a co-practitioner in special treatments of within the SGGZ. Conversely, I occasionally involve one of them in a treatment if a client needs something else besides music therapy (e.g. EMDR).

Waiting list

Waiting times may vary. I try to schedule an introductory meeting no later than two weeks after registration so that you can quickly find out whether music therapy is in line with your request for help and whether we are a good fit for each other. At that moment, I can indicate how long the waiting time will be.

Duration of the therapy

Depending on the situation, music therapy treatment consists of an average of 5 to 20 sessions. The frequency of appointments is often weekly in the beginning and later on biweekly.

An individual session lasts 50 minutes, a group session 60 minutes and a relationship therapy session 75 minutes.
