About me

Alternating between music (saxophone) and Social Work I found an inspiring combination between the two at a later age through the profession of the music therapist. My love for music and my confidence in the changing potential of human beings come together in this work.

Until 2013, I worked as a music therapist at GGZ Drenthe. After this work experience, I set up my own music therapy practice. I work together with other self-employed psychologists, psychotherapists and psychiatrists a great deal.

I hear from clients that my calmness makes them feel at ease and accepted and that my playfulness is contagious.

The crises in my own life have also strengthened my view that difficult periods in life can take you further in your development as a human being. From this positive attitude, I work as a therapist.

Vision and mission

Healing means becoming whole. I believe that becoming whole means that everything may be seen without judgment and that everything is simply a part of the experience.

So there is no exclusion, no exclusion of certain feelings or character traits within yourself and no exclusion from others. I like to help you discover this view without judgment and without exclusion. Music is a fantastic companion: music does not judge; in music one emotion is not better, or more beautiful than another. Music also 'rewards' those daring to be different: if everyone would play the same thing, music would be very boring!

Listen, face it and share with another how you are right now, I see this as an important and helpful step in the right direction. The loneliness that arises when you pretend to be different than who you are and when you reject your own feelings. In my eyes, this loneliness often causes the greatest pain. Seeking help means breaking through this loneliness. And from this “being in contact with yourself” an enormous life force is released. It touches me again and again to be able to witness this.
